Joycelyn S. Brown, Esq. is the managing partner at IPS Legal Group, P.A.. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University, Ms. Brown worked as an engineer in the semi-conductor industry for several years. Ms. Brown received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 2008.
Following law school, Ms. Brown worked as an associate at one of Florida’s most respected law firms where she represented companies in a variety of matters including intellectual property and contract disputes, complex litigation, and employment matters. Ms. Brown went on to serve as a law clerk to Judge Marcia Cooke on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Aside from the practice of law, Ms. Brown has served the Miami-Dade community as the President of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Bar Association, a member of the Dade-County Bar Association, and an advocate for women’s sports. In 2015, Ms. Brown was recognized as one of the top 40 Under 40 Black Professionals in Miami. Ms. Brown is also an adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College.

Dorothie Laguerre Smith
Dorothie Laguerre Smith is a Registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Dorothy has a passion for advising inventors and business owners on their intellectual property rights. She speaks frequently on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Dorothie has key experience in the field. She worked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner, where she examined and approved or denied patent applications in various technological areas. Dorothie examined patent applications in exemplary areas of robotic surgical devices, broadcast engineering, video conferencing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, multiplexing, packet switching, and real-time multimedia communications. Dorothie also has industry experience as an Electrical Engineer. She worked at Siemens Gamesa, a Fortune 500 company, where she was part of the project team that designed and constructed wind turbines. Dorothie is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Mercer University School of Law. At Mercer, she enjoys training students to become superior Attorneys. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Barry University School of Law and earned her Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
